What’s happening to our Trees? Join the Urban Forest Health Check

North Sydney has lost canopy cover over recent decades, impacting air quality, climate, and community health, according to the North Sydney Council.

These findings will be detailed at our upcoming Urban Forest Health Check webinar on Thursday, 22 August, at 6.30pm.

The council says tree canopy cover is declining due to changes in tree removal laws, trends toward paved outdoor areas, and state government infrastructure projects like the B-line, Sydney Metro stations, and the Western Harbour Tunnel and Warringah Freeway Upgrade.

Healthy trees offer numerous benefits, from cleaning our air and providing shade to creating wildlife habitats and mitigating the ‘urban heat island’ effect.

During the webinar, Council’s Urban Forest Officer will present a ‘health check’ on our urban forest, discuss Council’s actions to address the issue, and explain how the community can contribute.
