A man was issued a fine after being caught driving almost double the speed limit in Sydney’s west earlier today.
Officers attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting stationary speed enforcement duties as part of Operation Furious, targeting speed and dangerous driving offences.
About 7.30 am (Wednesday 27 March 2024), officers stopped the sedan driver on Lenore Drive, Eastern Creek, when they detected it allegedly travelling at 157km/h in a signposted 80km/h zone.
The 20-year-old male driver was stopped and issued a traffic infringement notice for P2 driver exceeding speed limit—over 45kmh, which carries a fine of $2794 and six demerit points.
His driver’s licence was suspended for six months, and his registration plates seized.
