NSW to trial pill testing at music festivals in 2025

The New South Wales Government has announced a pilot program to introduce pill testing at music festivals starting in 2025.

This initiative aims to enhance safety measures for festival-goers by providing an opportunity to test the contents of illicit substances on-site.

Independent health professionals will operate Pill testing services, offering a confidential and non-judgemental environment. The service will inform users about the composition of substances, raising awareness of potential risks.

This trial follows similar initiatives in other parts of Australia and internationally, where evidence suggests that pill testing can reduce harm and potentially save lives. Further details about the program’s rollout and participating festivals will be announced closer to the trial’s commencement.
