Photofields 2024, presented by Powerhouse, returns to Sydney from December 6–7 .
An exciting lineup of workshops, talks, screenings, and an exhibition. Hosted across Ace Hotel, Golden Age Cinema, and Sydney Observatory, the program brings together leading photographers, astronomers, and filmmakers to explore the role of lens-based media in capturing the cosmos, the sky, and stories of Country.
This year’s event is especially notable as it celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Sydney Observatory’s historic 1874 photographic capture of the Transit of Venus, a pioneering moment that bridged astronomy and photography. Photofields 2024 channels this spirit of interdisciplinary collaboration, offering audiences unique insights and hands-on experiences.
The program will kick off with a special conversation featuring renowned Australian artists Trent Parke and Narelle Autio, followed by screenings at Golden Age Cinema, including the documentary All Light, Everywhere (2021) and Powerhouse.
