CBA Executive General Manager, Everyday Banking, Kate Crous said: “Mother’s Day is a time for extra indulging and self-care. From the research we can see mums want an experience including being treated and pampered with options like enjoying a relaxing spa day or being taken out for lunch or dinner.”
The average amount people plan to spend on Mother’s Day is $74, according to the research.
Ms Crous said: “For gift-giving there are so many options online and in-store for your loved ones. We know people want to spoil their mum and be money savvy at the same time. So by planning ahead, like when you shop with CommBank Rewards, you can get thoughtful and quality gifts that are also friendly to your hip pocket.”
The research shows Australians are savvy shoppers with 46 per cent of people regularly hunting for deals, cashback or reward points.
“At the end of the day quality time is the obvious winner on Mother’s Day with most mums favouring relationships and experiences over things. So while gifts are certainly a perk, the feeling of togetherness and being with family is a valued part of how mums want to spend the day,” Ms Crous said.
According to the CommBank Rewards research Australian mums want to spend the day by having quality time together with their children. Around six in ten mothers rate this as their first choice, followed by food – whether eating out, ordering in or having someone cook for them.
