Police are investigating after a child was struck by a van in Sydney’s south west.
About 3.40pm (Tuesday 13 March 2018), emergency services were called to The Horsley Drive, Smithfield, following reports a six-year-old girl had been hit by a van.
The girl was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, suffering head injuries. She remains in a critical but stable condition.
The driver, a 55-year-old man, was taken to Fairfield Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police from Fairfield City Police Area Command commenced inquiries into the incident.
