Police are appealing for public assistance after a teenage girl was allegedly indecently assaulted on a train from Central to Granville.
About 12.30pm on Monday 1 January 2018, a 12-year-old girl boarded a train at Central Railway Station with her family to Granville.
The teenage girl sat next to a man on the train.
During the trip, the man attempted to engage in a conversation with her. He then allegedly indecently assaulted the girl. The man exited the train at Granville Railway Station.
The teenager exited the train at Parramatta Railway Station with her family and alerted police.
Officers from the Police Transport & Public Safety Command commenced inquiries and have now released a CCTV image of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.
The man depicted in the image is described as being of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, aged between 30 to 40, clean shaven with acne on his face. He is depicted wearing a long sleeved lilac shirt, and wearing white pants.
Police are urging anyone with information, or anyone who knows the identity of the man, to come forward.
