The Government is delivering on its commitment to creating jobs in regional and outer metropolitan communities with the relocation of Department of Human Services staff to Parramatta.
The Department of Human Services will in 2018 begin moving staff from the Sydney CBD.
Around 100 staff will be moved from the Sydney CBD to Parramatta by the end of 2018.
We will continue to look at other options to move additional offices into regional and outer metropolitan areas into the future.
The high quality of services the department provides will be maintained and there will be no change for customers as a result of these transfers.
The Department of Human Services is already one of the Government’s most decentralised departments.
Staff are based at 421 locations throughout Australia and services are also available from more than 340 Agents and 230 Access Points.
Eighty per cent of its more than 33,000 staff are located outside the ACT and Sydney and Melbourne central business districts.
Moving more jobs from major capital cities like Sydney and Melbourne will ensure that secure jobs and economic stability are shared equally right across the country.
The department will consult with staff and the Community and Public Sector Union to ensure a smooth transition of staff.
