Illegal dumping of asbestos – Clemton Park

Investigations are underway after asbestos was illegally dumped in Sydney’s south west.

About 5.45pm (Wednesday 7 March 2018) a tipper truck carrying contaminated waste believed to be asbestos was allegedly dumped on the roadway along Hillside Avenue, Clemton Park.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended and cordoned off the roadway.

Fire & Rescue NSW attended and sprayed a sealing agent on the pile and covered it in plastic.

The matter has been referred to the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) for further investigation, with local police assisting and charges expected to be laid.

Illegal dumping is a serious crime that can have severe impacts on the environment and can endanger the community.
