Police investigate serious assault of man

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was seriously injured during an assault at North Parramatta.

About 11.30pm (Wednesday 31 January 2018), police were called to Teale Place at North Parramatta after numerous reports a man was being assaulted in the street.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended; however, the group had dispersed. A crime scene was established and police commenced a search of the area.

A short time later, a man attended Ryde Hospital with serious injuries.

It’s believed the man was assaulted by a group of men, some armed with baseball bats, on Teale Street before being hit by a car.

The 22-year-old remains in hospital where he is being treated for multiple injuries, including broken ribs.

An investigation in to the incident is underway and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Investigators have been told the group involved are described as being of Middle Eastern / Mediterranean or Pacific Islander / Maori appearance.
