Singing sensation Dami Im will perform at Pirrama Park in Sydney on Saturday, 3 February 2018, headlining a free community event to celebrate the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) Queen’s Baton Relay’s (QBR) time in New South Wales.
The significant international celebration, presented in conjunction with the City of Sydney, will bring the community together for a special moment in time to celebrate with a night of entertainment and culture, to culminate the GC2018 Relay through the City.
The family friendly celebration will commence at 4:30pm, with community entertainment, vendors and GC2018 mascot Borobi before the Queen’s Baton arrival carried by Ray Warren OAM at 5:30pm.
Dami Im will then take to the stage for two sets to headline what will be an unforgettable evening.
“To headline Sydney’s Queen’s Baton Relay celebration is extra special for me after being part of the GC2018 Charity Gala, the Gold Coast Games are shaping up to be incredible and I can’t wait to be involved again.”
From South East Queensland, Dami will carry the Queen’s Baton as a Batonbearer in her hometown of Daisy hill on 1 April 2018.
“I am thrilled to be involved in the Queen’s Baton Relay not once – but twice! Not only performing at the celebration in Sydney but I also get the chance to carry the Queen’s Baton in my hometown.”
Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the QBR will give Sydneysiders and visitors from across Australia an opportunity to celebrate our nation’s proud sporting history.
“As the Queen’s Baton Relay makes its way through the City in February 2018, we will show our support for our athletes ahead of the Games and wish them luck on the Gold Coast.”
Relaying the Queen’s Baton through Sydney on its way to Pyrmont’s Pirrama Park will be sporting greats Glenn McGrath and Leisel Jones and community members nominated for being local legends.
