Man wounded – Greenfield Park

Police have appealed to the public for information after a man was injured in a physical altercation with another man at a home in Greenfield Park.

About 6pm today (Tuesday 16 January 2018), police have been told a man entered the front yard of a home in Pomo Close.

The 58-year-old male resident confronted the man and they became involved in a brawl outside the home.

The assailant fled a short time later, leaving the resident with a hand injury which is believed to have been caused by an edged weapon.

Police from Fairfield Local Area Command were called to the location and established a crime scene.

The injured man was treated at the location and conveyed by Ambulance paramedics to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

Police searched the area for the man, not further described, who fled on foot and was tracked by a police dog to Sweethaven Road, where the assailant may have entered a motor vehicle.

It is believed that the incident was a targeted attack.

Police have urged anyone who might have seen the assault or a man acting suspiciously near a vehicle in Sweethaven Road to come forward.
