Investigations continue following shooting

Police believe the man shot at Wentworthville sustained his injuries during an armed robbery at the pizza restaurant where he was working.

About 1.45am (Sunday 7 January 2018), a man attended Wentworthville Police Station with gunshot wounds to his chest and hand.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.

Police believe the 21-year-old man was working at a pizza restaurant on Dunmore Street when a man armed with a gun demanded cash.

During a confrontation, the 21-year-old man was shot and the armed man fled.

The injured man and a co-worker then walked to the nearby police station for assistance.

Officers from Holroyd Local Area Command are continuing to canvass the local area.

They’re appealing for anyone with information about the robbery and shooting to come forward.
