Man injured during home invasion

A crime scene has been established at Emerton following a home invasion.

About 9.15pm (Saturday 6 January 2018), a group of men forced entry to a granny flat on Popondetta Road and confronted the occupants.

The group threatened the pair before assaulting them.

A 22-year-old man was taken to Westmead Hospital with lacerations after being struck multiple times with a garden tool.

The other occupant, a 20-year-old man, was assessed at the scene by ambulance paramedics.

Police were alerted after the group fled and officers from Mt Druitt Local Area Command attended and conducted a canvass of the area.

An investigation is underway in an attempt to identify and locate those involved and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
