Police investigate attempted armed robbery

Police are investigating following an attempted armed robbery in Panania.

Just after 12.30am (Friday 5 January 2018), a man entered a shop on Tower Street, armed with a knife.

The man threatened an employee, demanding money.

Following a scuffle, the man fled empty handed.

Officers from Bankstown Local Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced investigations.

As inquiries continue, police wish to speak to a man who they believe can assist them with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 18 years old, 145cm tall, and of a thin build.

He was last seen wearing a black zip-up jacket and white t-shirt.

The employee was not physical injured during the robbery.
