Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Unit, who’ve been investigating an alleged sexual assault near Camden in 2016, are appealing for a potential witness to come forward.
Officers have been told that in April or May 2017, a 15-year-old girl was walking in an isolated area in The Oaks, about 15km west of Camden, when she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
A man, believed to be in his early to mid-20s, of Caucasian appearance and with a slim build, was jogging at the Dudley Chesham Sports Ground in the Oaks and interrupted the alleged assault.
He stayed with the girl for a short time before leaving the area.
Detectives are appealing for this ‘Good Samaritan’ to contact police, as he may have information that may assist in the investigation.
The Child Abuse Unit is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse and extreme cases of neglect.
