Australia’s International Country Entertainer, WAYNE HORSBURGH is back and performing in Australia after dividing his time between home and the USA for 25 years.
Born and raised in Benalla, Victoria, Wayne started singing and playing guitar at just 8 years old. Some of his early musical influences were Frank Ifield, Wilf Carter and Slim Whitman – hence the love for yodelling, always a crowd pleasing feature of his own shows. Having become a full time performer in 1976, he toured Australia with the legendary Buddy Williams in 1978 and then moved to Sydney in 1979 with a dream of becoming a successful entertainer and the ambition to travel the world with his music. He has certainly achieved that and more.
Wayne’s career has taken him to places including New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. His big break came when he was invited to perform in the USA at Wisconsin’s Hodag Country Festival in 1989. Recognizing his talent and popularity, he was booked back eight more times over the following years where he shared the bill with the biggest stars in American Country Music. Wayne based himself in Nashville, Tennessee for many years, before moving to Branson, Missouri to continue entertaining audiences through until 2009.
At the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January 2013, Wayne was inducted into the ‘Roll Of Renown’, the highest honour to be awarded in Australian Country Music.
Performing for many years in the Sydney Clubs, Wayne has also won 2 ‘ACE’ Awards and 6 Australian Entertainment ‘MO’ Awards for excellence in live entertainment in the ‘Best Male Country Performer’ category.
Wayne records on Rotation Records (Aust.) Pty Ltd, with 29 album releases throughout the years. His latest CD’s include ‘Songs Of The Islands – Vol. 2’, ’Roll Of Renown – Tamworth 2013’, ‘22 Gospel Greats’, ‘Yodels and Love Songs’, ‘A Salute To Marty Robbins’, ‘Born Free’, ‘Songs of the Islands – Vol.1’ and ‘Memories & Guitar Strings’.
WAYNE HORSBURGH has become a trailblazer for other Australian performers in international markets. With his elevation to the ‘Roll Of Renown’, his name now has a permanent place in the history of Australian Country Music.
