A 40-year-old woman and 35-year-old man have been charged after a card skimming device was located in an automated teller machine in Sydney’s Inner West.
Leichhardt Local Area Command with assistance from Strike Force Ambleside are conducting investigations into a card skimming device which was located inside an ATM at a convenience store on the corner of Darling and Belmore streets, Rozelle.
Police believe cards used in the ATM could have been compromised. If you believe you have used the ATM, contact your financial institution immediately and cancel that card. If you have been the victim of fraudulent activity associated with your card, call Balmain Detectives on 9556 0624.
Police are reminding the community to always cover the key pad when using an ATM; do not record your PIN with your card; and do not tell any other person your PIN. It is also recommended to check your transaction history regularly and to report any suspicious activity to your financial institution immediately.
The man and woman remain before the courts charged with a number of fraud-related offences.
The man will be appearing before Central Local Court today (Thursday 2 November 2017), whilst the woman is next due to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Friday 3 November 2017).
