On Saturday 29th April 2017, PACT centre for emerging artists will present, The Big Bounce, the first in their PACT Salon Series which aim to showcase new works by some of Sydney’s most compelling emerging performance, visual and media artists.
An immersive mini festival, The Big Bounce has been curated by award-winning dancer and choreographer Matt Cornell with the aim of challenging the traditional artist and audience relationship through its interactive programming.
Over four hours, The Big Bounce will include dance workshops (just grooves, not choreography) with Vanessa Marian who founded the accessible Sydney dance studio Groove Therapy, a series of performances with contemporary dancer Angela Goh and street dancer Adam Warburton, a high-energy set with DJ Sezzo Snot and a Q&A with all of the performers.
Installations will also be displayed throughout the PACT building, including Salazar Quas’s collage work on body iconography, Emma Fishwick’s topographic drawings based on her contemporary dance piece microLandscapes, and a video installation from Jake Kuzman exploring the pursuit of dancing in a foreign environment.
PACT Artistic Director and CEO, Katrina Douglas said, “I’m thrilled to be launching the Salon Series with The Big Bounce. Matt has programmed an incredible line up of artists, who are turning PACT into the ultimate performance party venue.”
“We invite everyone to come along and watch but to also take part in the action and dance as well as chat with the artists. If you need a break, you can head to the courtyard for a delicious BBQ on offer. The Big Bounce is an event you won’t want to miss!”
The Big Bounce will be the first of three PACT Salons presented across 2017, proudly supported by the City of Sydney, and Arts NSW.
