One of the Australia’s top rooftop pools has opened in North Sydney in time for summer.
Perched 20 storeys above street level and offering spectacular views of North Sydney and Sydney Harbour, a stunning 25m infinity-edged rooftop pool has opened atop Crown Group’s residential development Skye by Crown Group.
Residents of the newly completed $200m tower were the first to enjoy a swim in the unique pool.
Inspired by the world’s best five-star hotel swimming pools such as the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore, the rooftop pool sits alongside a luxury residents’ gym and lounge is fringed by an expansive timber deck and tropical plants.
Crown Group CEO Iwan Sunito said the infinity rooftop pool was one of many standout features of Skye by Crown Group, which had already become an architectural centrepiece of North Sydney.
Designed by Koichi Takada Architects, the 242-apartment building features a grand foyer, a pedestrian through-site link providing a public access between Pacific Highway and Angelo Street and a curved vertical ‘veil’ enveloping the building’s exterior.
“When we launched Skye by Crown Group in 2013 I envisioned it would become a vibrant architectural sculpture in North Sydney home to more than one hundred new residents, and that vision is a reality,” Mr Sunito said.
“The completion of Skye by Crown Group is a milestone for Crown Group. This building will be a landmark development in North Sydney for decades to come.
“Skye by Crown Group has been an exceptional project from the start to finish, with a hugely successful sales launch and efficient timely construction.
“It is rare to find a wet-edge ‘infinity’ pool like this in a residential apartment building. Roof-top pools of this calibre are usually only found in top international hotels,” he said.
“The pool has already proven popular with residents and I’m pleased our residents are able to enjoy it for summer,” Mr Sunito added.
The pool itself sits 65 m above ground and holds 168 000 litres of water. It was built over three months using about 100 cubic metres of concrete and 28 cutting-edge “springs” forming part of sound-proofing to eliminate sound from the pool in apartments.
Skye by Crown Group has proven highly popular with buyers whom secured more than $100-million worth of apartments in the first week of sales and all apartments now sold.
Architect Koichi Takada said he was pleased to see the building come to life.
“It is immensely satisfying to see Skye by Crown Group completed,” Mr Takada said.
“It was always our mission to create the feeling of visiting a beautiful five-star luxury resort on a remote island.
“We wanted to create something equally as beautiful as it was functional, like a sculpture you can live in,” he added.
Skye by Crown Group features three large penthouses, with sweeping curved staircases and outdoor terraces.
Crown Group was awarded the International Property Award for Best Development Marketing for Skye by Crown Group in 2014.
Mayor of North Sydney, Jilly Gibson, attended an official ground breaking ceremony in 2015 and also welcomed the news of the completion of the building which would be home to hundreds of new North Sydney residents.
“More and more of our residents are embracing an apartment lifestyle. A development of this calibre is a most welcomed addition to our thriving CBD,” Cr Gibson said.
Crown Group has established a reputation for architecturally unique, resort-style residential development and has been recognized with a number of top industry awards including the UDIA NSW President’s award, Master Builders Association Excellence in Construction award, UDIA National High Density Development award and UDIA NSW award for Concept Design.
Skye by Crown Group is located at 211-223 Pacific Highway.
For property buyers who missed out on an apartment at Skye by Crown Group the company has released new apartments at V by Crown Group in Parramatta and Oasis by Crown Group in Ashfield.
